Swing Park, Milwaukee, WI

Agreeably, city living can be quite tiring. All the noise and vibrancy that forces you to embrace fast-paced living can get daunting to handle every once in a while. If you ever find yourself feeling this way, Milwaukee’s Swing Park is where you should head and open yourself up to the fun that awaits! Sitting right in the middle of town, this seemingly hidden gem has a special way of bringing out the kid in everyone. While there are so many special spots in Milwaukee, WI, this one right here, for some reason, seems to be popular among guests and residents alike.

This park is more of an off-beaten path that hangs literally below the Holton Bridge in Milwaukee. To some people, news of a special place beneath this famous bridge would come as a huge surprise. However, if you get to visit this hidden gem, you will feel the urge to let it all go and tap into the kid in you. This is a space that is nearly synonymous to ‘Winding off’.

Swing Park offers 5 conventional swings made from tires cut into halves, a vertical tire swing, a horizontal tire swing, and a plastic blue adult swing that is handicap accessible. The entire park is carpeted in soft sand. Non-swinging guests can enjoy the ambience while resting on the wooden benches available. If you need to burn some time before your dinner reservation comes through, this is the most ideal spot to round up your ‘crew’. Swing Park is perfect for friendly group gatherings, first dates or even family meetings. When you have had enough of the swings, feel free to take a stroll on one of the most close-by trials.

Swing Park is found under the famous Holton Street Bridge and the Media Garden Marsupial Bridge. Featuring swings that will appeal to the child in everyone, be sure to stop, wind off, and simply enjoy! The Swing Park is a brilliant invention of BeInTween. BeInTween is a group of urban enthusiasts who established Swing Park as a type of pop-up Park, with its main aim being adding purpose to passersby through tapping into their playful spirit.

Two years after the Park was established, it was taken over by the City of Milwaukee. This was after a long lasting controversy between the ‘Save the Swings’ initiative and the city Park lovers. Today, the Park runs perfectly, even holding events and movie nights during summer. Swing Park has its own way of bringing back the spark in Milwaukee, WI.
